2026 Strategic Goals

Fiscal Responsibility

1. Approve and maintain a balanced budget
   • Review revenue streams and expenditures.
   • Identify areas for potential cost savings
   • Identify areas for possible revenue enhancements without additional taxpayer burden
2. Educate residents on potential budget shortfalls and the impacts of Headlee rollbacks

Infastructure & Economic Development

1. Enhance business environment to attract new businesses by permitting additional/larger signs for commercial properties
2. Develop city infrastructure prioritization and funding plan
3. Communicate Smith’s Bridge project to residents
4. Review zoning ordinances related to signage and renewable energy
5. Grow 4th of July Festivities
6. Complete the First Impression Tourism Assessment

Parks & Recreation

1. Install lighting bollards along western portion of Coast Guard Park walking path
2. Enhance appearance of Coast Guard Park entrance
3. Secure parks and recreation property to satisfy Federal grant requirements
4. Install a Kayak launch
5. Upgrade City Hall Park

Community Confidence & Safety

1. Review Charter Amendment(s) not passed in 2024 and place them on November 2026 ballot
2. Enhance the City’s virtual and physical branding communication, especially around the idea of being a small town with outdoor recreational opportunities
3. Implement plan for information sharing (e.g. – digital marquee signs, SMS messages, etc.)
4. Diversify Boards & Commissions
